PATIO PACKS
This is an example of a symbol which is generally used for our mixed patio or driveway packs. The symbol will be accompanied by a table which displays the quantity of each size in a full pack. The symbol will also have a three digit code which is simply the code we use to recognise that pack size/type. See below for an example of this in use.
SINGLE SIZES
This is the symbol we use to represent 'single sizes available'. It is generally accompanied by a table of sizes, and the staggered symbol indicates that you can make up your meterage in any mixture of the sizes shown - you can pick and choose. Also accompanied by a three digit code, which again is what we use to recognise the pack size/type. See an example of it in use below.
CALIBRATED
This is an example of a symbol which is generally used for a calibrated patio pack. This means, it is a mixed patio pack (unless the symbol itself displays the staggered sizes as above, meaning you can pick and choose the sizes) but the depth displays one size which displays the depth at which it is calibrated to.
CALIBRATED DEPTH
This symbol represents slabs which have been machine cut to a contact depth. The value represents the depth, for example this one is calibrated to 20mm.
VARIABLE DEPTH
This symbol represents either a hand cut stone which has a variable depth. Sizes shown are approximate and you should allow for this when preparing your sub base.
INDIVIDUAL SIZE
Available to purchase in this one single size. The dimensions are written in millimetres.
MIXTURE OF SIZES
The meterage you order would be made up of a mixture of the sizes shown. You cannot choose a particular size.
SPECIAL FINISH
A product displaying this symbol comes with a special finish. More information will be given in the item description.
INSIDE & OUT
Ideal to lay internally or externally. Popular for orangeries or conservatories where the floor will flow from area to area.
OPUS PATTERN
This pattern is a classic, traditional pattern which is made up of four sizes. The pattern tessellates infinitely for a perfect but random pattern:
A: 400x400mm, B: 600x400mm, C: 400x200mm, D: 200x200mm
OPUS PATTERN 2
This pattern is a classic, traditional pattern which is made up of four sizes, slightly different by a few mm to the above. The pattern tessellates infinitely for a perfect but random pattern:
A: 400x400mm, B: 602x400mm, C: 400x198mm, D: 198x198mm
DEPTH
Each slab has been machine cut creating a near perfect depth throughout the stone.
INDIVIDUAL SIZE
Available to purchase in this one single size. The dimensions are written in millimetres.
GILA PATTERN or COURSED PATTERN
This pattern is designed to be laid in coursed rows. It is available in a mixture of the sizes shown, not individually.
TUMBLED
A finish achieved by placing stone tiles in a tumbling drum, sometimes with the addition of acids, to soften the edges and give the surface a worn, rustic look.
BRUSHED
An ageing process which uses large metal brushes to generate a smoother, more worn appearance like the material has been around for decades.
HONED
A completely smooth and matt machined surface. Usually a honed finish indicates perfectly straight, machines edges too.
FILLED
This is when the pits found in travertine (as mentioned above) are filled in the factory with a grout like resin. A tile is always honed as well as being filled, giving a smooth and flat surface.
UNFILLED
As the name suggests, the pits and holes are left unfilled, leaving a more natural looking, textured finish.
LEATHERED
Similar to a honed finish. Helps to seal the pores and keeps the colour true.
